Harrison VFW Newsletter October 2017
Winter is nearly upon us and we will be changing our focus from outdoor venues to entertainment and fun indoors. This summer has been outstanding in the support we have gotten and I hope we can continue that level of fun throughout the winter. We have plans to use the hall for live entertainment whenever the hall is not being used for other venues, weddings and the like. I ask all to pass the word and make this new venture work.
The cruise-ins are over for the year and I cannot say enough about how well they were run and supported. I would like to thank John Summers for his dedication, music and obtaining door prizes during our weekly cruise ins.
We are in discussion about how to continue with the ham shoots and I hope we can make progress in that endeavor. Many individuals are working on this project and I thank them all.
We have finalized a date for next year’s gun raffle and it will be in October. Ticket sales will begin as soon as possible and I feel that we should really do well and hopefully it will be very profitable.
On a personal note, I have had the pleasure to recently spend some time at the VA hospital and to observe the fine work they do in that facility. I had an individual show me through the facility and I encourage any veteran that could use their assistance and that is currently not getting it, to do so. I was impressed.
Until next month, keep up the excellent work and always but always remember our veterans and their families.
GOD BLESS AMERICA & PROTECT OUR TROOPS

Unfortunately, there will be no ham shoots this year unless someone steps up to be completely in charge of all the duties and get volunteers to work every Sunday except the 3rd Sunday from September thru first week in May.
We will be available to show you everything that needs to be done. Contact Hippo if you will do this – this is a VERY large money maker for the VFW.
