Harrison VFW Newsletter October 2016
Greetings Post Officers, VFW Members, Auxiliary, LOV-S and our many friends. Fall is upon us and the leaves are changing. The hall looks fantastic and all of those painting and putting in the extra work – I truly appreciate it. More to come on thanking you properly. The VFW voted to form a new Auxiliary, so look for more information and special meeting times to develop by year’s end. Thanks for all of the discussion about how to handle this transition. NOV 11 is just around the corner and veterans will be honored by area business with a free meal. These places don’t have to do this, so please thank them for their generosity. FREE MEAL does not mean the server is working for free; tip for what the total should have been. The list of restaurants, etc is in this newsletter. We are going to welcome the New Year by doing some aggressive membership drives. WE NEED everyone to help. More to come on this, so get your 2-minute speech about how great the post is off the shelf and ready to use. We have core group that keeps this post running. Admitting, I’m not a big part of it. At the very least, I need to be at more events and to try to support what is going on. SOOOOOO – I’m asking the same of you. If you are not the heavily involved person, fine, show up for as many things as you can – it helps. AND – help us get more veterans to join.
Reminder – MEDICARE SEASON is 15 Oct to 7 Dec – don’t be left out to dry.

POST HELPING VETERANS & AREA NEEDY
The Post has helped in September: 41 Veterans and families with VA assistance, driving to Veterans facilities and assisting with paper work and finances. People helped thru Charitable Events using the Canteen, Event Center. Every Thursday at noon AA meets here. We have given out over $5,785.97 for our veteran members, local area needy, etc. It was a busy month month and that’s what we are here for – to help! Post needs your help to step up and get active a few hrs. each month!
Volunteers needed to help with the October 15th Cruise-In. Need sponsors, door prizes and planning for this big day.
PLEASE NOTE: If you want your newsletter mailed, please leave your address with a bartender at the Post. Otherwise, the newsletter is being e-mailed only. Extra copies are at the Post for you to pick up.
