Harrison VFW Newsletter December 2017

COMMANDER’S MESSAGE

This last month saw the post send 50 care packages to our troops overseas. Of all the good things that our members are involved in this one very kind and worthwhile act defines who we are. The Veterans Dinner was overwhelming to see all our Veterans being honored including our WWII Veterans, Cappy, Silas Nevels, Sam Vaught, and Ron Fury. I want to personally thank all those who contributed to these events.

Our outside activities have come to an end for the winter and we are now preparing for other activities. We are trying to have more events in the hall including live music and have ideas for other events as well. I feel that our hall is a vastly underutilized asset. With the new sound-deadening panels in place the hall has a better acoustical feel to it and more comfortable.  Thanks to Max, Joe and Mary Ann for organizing this and to the fantastic crew who spent all day Saturday installing them.

The upcoming fish fries begin February 16th and we will need volunteers.

The VFW meeting on December 20th will have the 4th district commander in attendance and I encourage our VFW members to attend the meeting.  Mike is also one of the best service officers and may be able to assist those members with benefit questions.

Again, thanks to all for everything you do.

GOD BLESS AMERICA & PROTECT OUR TROOPS

John Neal, Commander
