COMMANDER’S MESSAGE

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered their time for the various events this year. This keeps the Post open.  Come on down and walk in the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 28th.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Nomination of Officers is open and voting in May. QUARTERMASTER position needs to be filled in order to keep the Post open. Five to ten hours a week we will teach you how to do the job. You will have “Two Assistants.”

Candles for Sale: Bill Grote makes candles and is selling them at the Canteen Bar.  All profits go to VFW.  Members say they are terrific.  Give them a try.

 

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

MONDAY, MAY 28: We would like members and families to walk in the parade. We will be leaving the Post at 9am, or if you would like, you can meet us at the start of the parade site on Broadway in front of the elementary school.  Hazel’s great granddaughter, Whitney Horton is our Miss Buddy Poppy.

 

EVENT CENTER

We are in the process of making the small hall a military display. We have the honor of Joey Fischer, Boy Scout, preparing his Eagle Scout project with VFW military memorabilia.  This should be completed by the end of May.

 

CHAPLAIN’S CORNER

Please keep their family members in your prayers. Pirate’s brother in Law passed away. We have a long list of friends that are ill they are:, Jerry Branditz,  Nancy Huck, Carl Bain, Joe Laugle, Joe Ecklar, Darlene Johnson, Tilly, Mary Reed, Judy Brown, Barb Bowling, Fay Mergenthal, Jan St. John, Ann Hughes, Duffy Donahue, Sandy White, Kenneth Wilson and all the members and families who have this horrible flu.   Please keep these members and families in your prayers.

As always, please keep our service men and women, POW’s & MIA’s in your prayers.

DUWEL ASSOCIATION

We are doing a 50/50 raffle every Friday night and we are raffling a Kimber gun, see Doug for tickets. Our next meeting is Thurs, 5/3 at 7:00pm.  We need your help for many events at our Post, come the meeting and bring your ideas to help the Post.

LOVE OUR VETERANS –SOCIETY

5/12: LOV-s All You Can Eat Breakfast $8, volunteers welcome to help. Nominations for officers were accepted at our April meeting, if you would like to run for office, please see Mary Ann. Voting will be at our May 24th meeting. There will not be absentee voting this year. I would like to encourage LOV-S members and their families to march with the VFW in the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, Mary 28. We will be leaving the VFW at 9a and going to the start of the parade on Broadway. Hazel’s great granddaughter, Whitney Horton is our Miss Buddy Poppy.

POST HELPING VETERANS & AREA NEEDY

The Post has helped in APRIL: 27 Veterans and families with VA assistance, driving to Veterans facilities and assisting with paper work and finances. People helped thru Charitable Events using the Canteen, Event Center. Every Thursday at noon AA meets here. We have given out over $1,950.00 in April for our veteran members, local area needy, etc. This is what we are here for – to help! Post needs your help to step up and get active a few hrs. Each month!

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Need volunteers to help clean up the Post and Cabana Bar Monday, May 14th 2018. If you would like to help but cannot make that time, contact Dave Wendell, President of Duwel Assoc. We will set time at your convince. Contact Hippo 513-325-9174. Thanks to all that will help!
