COMMANDER’S MESSAGE 

Brothers  & Sisters, We had a great month of February. Thanks to our LOV-s for the monthly breakfast. We had a great time & turn out for the Hillbilly Valentine dance, our Valentine dance and our music on Friday evenings. Now we are looking forward to March! Better weather, our fabulous Fish Fry’s starting 3/8 and great music every Friday. I want to thank everyone who has helped to make these events a success.

In closing please keep Paul Hilmer (Hippo) and our other friends who are ailing in your prayers, also Sylvia Ruthven and her lose. We all miss Jack.

Candles for Sale:  Bill Grote makes candles/wax melts and is selling them at the Canteen Bar.  All profits go to VFW.  Members say they are terrific.  Give them a try.

Comrades & Comradetts, I hope everyone has stayed high & dry with all the wet weather. We enjoyed our Friday nights with good bands and great music. 3/1 – DJ John Summer’s is welcoming in the month with Western Night. DUWEL ASSOCIATION

We will be doing a 50/50 raffle every Friday, 6 for $5, and we will be raffling a Kimber 45, $10/ticket Only 125 tickets will be sold. The Fish Fry’s will start 3/8. We need your help for many events at our Post, come to the meeting and bring your ideas to help the Post. Next meeting is Thursday, 3/7 @ 7pm.

LOVE OUR VETERANS –SOCIETY

LOV-s All You Can Eat Breakfast, 3/9, $8, 8am – 11:30 am, Volunteers are welcome contact Mary Ann. LOV-s will be raffling off a 58” Sharp 4K TV, $10/ticket, 200 tickets will be sold. Fish Fry Dinners start Fri, March 8, We are asking our LOV-s members to donate desserts for the fish fry’s. Please drop them off on Thursday evening or before 3:30pm on Fridays. If possible, please bring the dessert in a disposable container. Our March meeting is 3/28 @ 7pm.

POST HELPING VETERANS & AREA NEEDY

In February, the Post helped 285 Veterans and families with VA assistance, such as driving to Veterans facilities and assisting with paper work and finances. We helped thru Charitable Events using the Canteen and Event Center.  Every Thursday at noon AA meets here. We have given out over $1,750 in February for our veteran members, local area needy, etc. This is what we are here for – to help! Post needs your help to step up and get active a few hrs. each month!

GUN RAFFLE

We are going to have our Gun Raffle this year, October 5th. The tickets will be $200.00. It will still be a one in four chances to win. The ticket includes dinner for two. If you buy your ticket before July 9th you will be entered into an early bird drawing to win a Henry’s Golden Boy 22. For tickets & questions contact Harry Power 513-673-1334.

SPECIAL TRIBUTE

On January 30th we lost a lifetime member, Surgeon, Korean Veteran and a Great Friend – Jack Ruthven. Jack always brought smiles to our faces with his great stories & humor. We will all miss him, rest in peace. God Bless Sylvia.
