Harrison VFW Newsletter September 2019

COMMANDER’S MESSAGE

I want to thank all of those who helped with our cruise in on August 17th. We had a great turnout of cars. Our final show for the season will be on September 14th, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The “Atta Boy” for the month goes out to Denny Callan who keeps the canteen looking great, works our books and keeps our hall in good shape. Atta Boy Denny!

Again, I’m reaching out to those members who do not attend our meetings every 3rd Wednesday of each month. Your ideas and opinions on how to keep the VFW going strong means a lot so please try to attend. It would be great to see new faces! As always, thank you to the LOV-s and Men’s Group for their dedication and help in keeping our VFW post going.

If anyone knows any of the following Past Commanders, please contact them or their family and tell them we need a 8 x 10 photo to put on our Past Commander’s Board so it is complete. If you get a picture, please turn it in to our bartender. Thank you,

JUNIOR VICE / FACILITY MANAGER

Dear Commrades & Commadetts,

Boy has another month flown by. We had a lot of activities for the month of August. I want to take time out to thank everybody for helping out at the activities. September doesn’t seem to be slowing down either. We have good music planned all month, with a Craft Show 9/7, BIG Crusie In 9/14 & last Flea Market 9/21, our monthly breakfast & family feud.

We have a couple drink specials going, asked the bartenders about them.

We have some new improvements in the making to make the Post even better.

Closing for now, hope to see you at the post!

Stay safe out there & keep and please keep all our vets and country in your prayers past and present.

See Ya!

Bill Floyd, 2nd Vice

POST HELPING VETERANS & AREA NEEDY

In August, the Post helped 2010 Veterans and families with VA assistance, such as driving to Veterans facilities and assisting with paper work and finances. We helped thru Charitable Events using the Canteen and Event Center.  Every Thursday at noon AA meets here. We have given out over $4100.00 in August for our veteran members, local area needy, etc. This is what we are here for – to help! Post needs your help to step up and get active a few hours each month!
