Harrison VFW Newsletter January 2017

COMMANDER’S MESSAGE

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It is very sad news about Ivan King, he was a life member of Post 7570.  Ivan came in everyday and volunteered his time to oversee the raffle machine, rip off tickets, and weekly drawings.  He volunteered in the Canteen and opened it up on weekends so he could share his stories and coffee with his fellow veterans.  Thanks to our members who donated food and volunteered their time to have the wonderful wake here at the VFW for the celebration of THE KING’S life.  There is no words to express the loss we feel, he is going to be missed by so many.

We need to get insulation in the event center at a cost of $4,700 plus we are hoping to start on the handicap restrooms and renovate the others. Donations and volunteers are needed.

The fish fry will begin on March 3rd.  Need volunteers for this year plus someone to take over the fish fry dinners for 2018, will be glad to train them this season.

Also, need a volunteer to fill the position of VFW Quartermaster since her resignation.

Thanks,

Michael W. Jones, Commander
