COMMANDER’S MESSAGE

 

A great big THANK YOU to all the volunteers who have made our Fish Fry Dinners so successful. We are averaging 450 each week and many compliments on how good the food and service is.

Nominations for officers will be accepted at the April meeting and elections will be held at our May meeting. If you are interested in running, see the Quartermaster.

Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny is coming on Saturday, April 15th, party begins at 11am, with face painting, cookie decorating, crafts and an egg hunt. This is for members only, make your reservation with the bartender before April 10th. We are asking for members to donate wrapped Easter candy for the egg hunt, please bring in before April 10th.

We are holding a golf outing at Hidden Valley on July 17. If you are interested in playing, or would like to sponsor a hole, see Hippo.

We are also having a 62 gun raffle on Saturday, July 22. Tickets are $200, only 248 tickets sold. You must be 21 and legally allowed to own a firearm. The ticket includes dinner for 2 for the night of the drawing.

We are having monthly Saturday cruise-ins on May 13th, June 24th, July 29th and Aug. 19th.

Our 9th Annual Cruise In (fundraiser for troops) is September 16th, need sponsors and door prizes.

FISH FRY DINNERS: April 7 & 14: 4:30 – 7p; $10. Fish or shrimp with choice of 2 sides (mac/cheese, cole slaw, French fries, or stewed tomatoes)

EVENT CENTER: Sat., April 15th, 11a-1p.

VFW Executive Board Meeting: Wed, 4/19, 6:30pm: All members (VFW, LOV-S, and Men’s) invited to attend to share ideas.

VFW Regular Meeting: Wed, 4/19, 7pm. (following Executive Board meeting)

Max & Joe Line Dance every Wednesday in the Canteen (no cover)

Please keep these members and families in your prayers.

DUWEL ASSOCIATION

We are doing a 50/50 raffle every Friday night. Our next meeting is Thurs, 4/6 at 7:30pm. We will be having nomination of officers at our April meeting and election at our May meeting. If you would like to be an officer or nominate someone, now is the time. We are raffling a Kimbar Gun for $10 a ticket.

LOVE OUR VETERANS – SOCIETY

Spring has arrived! The Children’s Easter Party, 4/15 from 11 AM – 1 PM. No charge to member’s children and grandchildren. Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny, Face Painting, Crafts, Cookie Decorating and an Easter Egg Hunt (bring your baskets). Pizza available $1/slice. Sign up by 4/9 @ the Canteen or call 407-7090. We appreciate wrapped candy donations to give to the children no later than 4/10. Thank you for your donations for the LOV-s dessert sales on Friday’s at the Fish Fry’s. Nominations on Lov-s Officers will be accepted at our April 27th meeting. Elections 5/25. 4/8 LOV-s All You Can Eat Breakfast $7, volunteers welcome to help. 4/28 Lov-s Meatloaf Dinner $8 from 4:30PM – 7PM or gone. Includes Meatloaf, mashed Potatoes, Green beans, Applesauce & Bread.

POST HELPING VETERANS & AREA NEEDY

The Post has helped in March: 42 Veterans and families with VA assistance, driving to Veterans facilities and assisting with paper work and finances. People helped thru Charitable Events using the Canteen, Event Center. Every Thursday at noon AA meets here. We have given out over $2,759.00 for our veteran members, local area needy, etc. This is what we are here for – to help! Post needs your help to step up and get active a few hrs. each month.

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Always looking for volunteers to help with the maintenance and clean-up of our Post.

Fish Fry Dinners volunteers, please contact Bev or Hippo if you can volunteer.

Volunteers for 4 monthly Cruise-In’s coming up May 13th, June 24th July 29th & Aug. 19th this summer. See Bill Floyd, is in charge and he is looking for help.

On July 17, volunteers needed for our first golf outing at Hidden Valley, see Hippo.

On July 22, volunteers needed for our BIG gun raffle, see Hippo.
