Harrison VFW Newsletter November 2019
October was a great month with the gun raffle topping it off. Thanks to all those who volunteered to help with the show and sold raffle tickets. Another SUCCESS!
ALL VFW VETERANS, Don’t forget to sign up for the VETERANS DINNER which will be on Saturday November 9th.The signup sheet is at the canteen bar. Come and enjoy the good food and comradery with fellow veterans and their families.
I think we’d all agree the summer has flown by but we have accomplished a few things around the post. Thanks to the LOVS, we have new a new concrete slab for our handicap folks and LOV-s and the MEN’s Group, and we have repaired the ceiling in the walk in cooler. There is still more to do to improve our post and, as always, we need your voice and support. Just a few members cannot keep up with the fast pace. Come to the meetings every 3rd. Wednesday of the month and share your thoughts.
This month’s ATTA GIRL goes out to Judy Brown. A true volunteer for more than 15 years. She’s a cashier for the check-in events. She coordinates: packing, mailing and shipping care packages to our soldiers. She donates food and makes the best baked beans for events! Judy always has a smile on her face and she also volunteers at her church and Northern Dearborn Food Pantry. Atta Girl Judy!!

POST HELPING VETERANS & AREA NEEDY
In October, the Post helped 1224 Veterans and families with VA assistance, and area needy, such as driving to Veterans facilities and assisting with paper work and finances. We helped thru Charitable Events using the Canteen and Event Center. Every Thursday at noon AA meets here. We have given out over $3650.00 in September for our veteran members, local area needy, etc. This is what we are here for – to help! Post needs your help to step up and get active a few hours each month!
